A Telstra Business Awards Journey: Ezypay wins Best Medium Business NSW 2015

Ezypay wins the Best Medium Business NSW 2015! Do you remember this post that we published a few weeks back about how Ezypay is a Telstra Business Award Finalist 2015 (again)? Well, we recently attended the Telstra Business awards – and won the Best Medium Business NSW 2015! To win such a prestigious and competitive award is really a huge achievement for our business.  This is the third time we entered the awards and the third time we have made it to the finals.  In 2010 we were lucky enough to make it to the finals and achieve the same position of winning the Best Medium Business NSW from the Telstra Business Awards team.  Each year that we have entered we are overwhelmed by the other finalists.  They are creative, innovative and amazing business owners who work hard every single day – just like us – to deliver the very best experience, service and outcomes for their clients.  Their stories are inspiring, emotional, and amazing.  Sometimes I wonder ‘Where do they get these ideas from?’.  Then I speak to them and I am blown away by their passion and energy for what they do. We were presented with the award by  Tony Nash, CEO of Booktopia who was the winner of the award last year.  Tony Nash is an inspiration to business owners.  He tells an amazing story of starting his business, growth and investment.  You can watch it in the video below. Another thing you might be struck by in Tony’s speech is that he entered the awards in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.  Yep that’s right 4 times!  You know that old...

Use Ezypay APIs to connect to your internal software

Could you be getting more from your Ezypay account? Many people only use Ezypay as a traditional standalone payment platform.  However some clients also use Ezypay APIs to create an integrated payment platform to their internal software.  Here is an explanation of the two different ways you can use Ezypay in your business. Ezypay – standalone payment platform You can use the Ezypay system as a standalone platform to collect recurring payments like subscriptions or memberships from customers.  When I say standalone I mean using the tools in your Ezypay account to add customers, edit customer payments and view your reports. This is really useful for businesses who might be starting up, they might be growing really quickly or they might not have any growth plans and be happy just as they are. Ezypay – integrated payment platform The second way you can use the Ezypay system is as an integrated payment platform. What does this mean?  It just means that it works together with your current CRM system, or proprietary software.  Working together means that the systems are connected and exchange data between them to bill your customers their recurring payments.  The benefits of integration are many and include saving time.  You don’t have to add customers in Ezypay and then into your CRM system.  You will also have one source of ‘truth’ for data which will be your CRM system.  No more confusion about where the payments for the customer are really at.  You will also no longer have to update your CRM system with the payment outcome.  This can be combined with the Ezypay system so...

The Hacker Who Stole Christmas

The holidays are nearly upon us and like many business owners you are probably planning what you will do while you take some time off over Christmas and New Year.  You may already have firmed up your plans and have holidays booked up the coast or even in some exotic international location.   How terrible to come back from your holiday or even worse have to cut your holiday short – because your online security has been breached.  You may even have had customer payment details stolen from your database. That would certainly not be the Christmas break you have been looking forward to.   According to Roy Morgan research in 2013 more than 50% of Australians shop online.  This equates to approximately $9 billion dollars a year spent online in Australia.  Add to this, shopping using a smart phone increased by 101% from 2012 to 2013.  Australians are increasingly happy to spend money online.   As online purchases increase so does the ever present threat of online fraud for both businesses and consumers.  There is plenty of information and advice out there for consumers but not so much for businesses.   Trent Brown, CEO of Ezypay, an international payment provider, shares his top 6 tips for businesses to protect themselves from online fraud over Christmas.   Passwords – set strong and long passwords on your business accounts. Don’t use your company name and don’t give the same password to everyone if you are creating logins to your system.  Many people don’t change their passwords which mean you have a large gaping hole in your security. Users –...

5 Pre-Written Templates for Collecting Outstanding Customer Payments

It’s really not a nice thing to have to ask a customer or a client for money.  In fact I don’t know anyone who gets out of bed in the morning excited because they have to do some debt collection calls.  So to take some of the pain out of asking your customers for money I thought I would offer you these 5 pre-written templates for collecting outstanding customer payments.   All 5 templates have different tones and different focuses so you can pick the one that is just right for your business.   Of course if you are using Ezypay to collect customer payments you would be unlucky to ever have the need to use these templates because we do hit a 99.5% collection rate for our clients.  We even do a failed payment follow up email or SMS for those customers who by some chance accidentally fail their payments.  So after all of that action it’s a pretty slim chance that you will need to use these templates but just in case you do we have put them together for you. 1. First Letter Serious but Short Template   Subject: Our records show your payment is overdue   Hi <insert name>,   This is a courtesy email to let you know that your payments of <insert amount> for <insert what they are paying for> are now overdue.  The last payment we received was on the <insert the last payment date> which means that the total outstanding is now <insert the total outstanding>.   We would greatly appreciate you fixing up this outstanding amount at your soonest possible...
